TAKE A LOOK: COVID-19 by the numbers in Riley County on Dec. 23

On Dec. 23, the Riley County Health Department announced one new COVID-19 related death. An 88-year-old Riley County man passed away at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan on Dec. 23. There have been 20 COVID-19 deaths in the county.

Additionally, there are 108 new cases of COVID-19 in Riley County, bringing the local total to 4,693. There are 360 active cases in the county.

There are 11 positive patients hospitalized at Ascension Via Christi and two more possible positive patients.

On Wednesday, the health department recorded 137 new recoveries from COVID-19. In all, 4,293 people have recovered in Riley County.

This week, the county health department administered its first COVID-19 vaccine to assistant director of the Riley County Emergency Medical Services Josh Gering. Since Tuesday afternoon, about 150 of 200 available doses were administered. More doses are expected in the coming weeks.
