TAKE A LOOK: COVID-19 in Riley County by the numbers on Jan. 11

The Riley County Health Department announced 106 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the county on Monday, bringing the local total to 477 active cases. There are 91 additional recoveries.

In all, 5,384 people in Riley County have tested positive for COVID-19, and 4,885 people have recovered.

Last week, two COVID-19 related deaths were announced, bringing the local total to 22. A 79-year-old male and an 82-year-old male passed away last week at Ascension Via Christi Hospital.

There are 18 positive patients hospitalized at Ascension Via Christi hospital in Manhattan. Four of these patients are in intensive care. There are two additional possible positive patients who are hospitalized.

The 14-day positivity for Dec. 27 to Jan. 2 is 14.5 percent — a 3.2 percent increase from the week before.

Recent changes in the statewide vaccination priority protocol may change how the COVID-19 vaccine is distributed locally. A new shipment is expected this week to provide the second dose to individuals who already received their first.
