TAKE A LOOK: COVID-19 in Riley County by the numbers on Jan. 22

The Riley County Health Department announced 75 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the local total to 5,799. Of those cases, 402 are active.

The health department also announced 34 additional recoveries since Wednesday, bringing the total recoveries to 5,369.

On Wednesday, the health department announced five deaths in individuals ranging from age 46 to 85. There have been 28 deaths in the county.

At Ascension Via Christi hospital in Manhattan, nine individuals are hospitalized — one patient is in intensive care.

Phase 2 of vaccination in Kansas began on Jan. 21, which means adults 65 and older, first responders, K-12 teachers and staff, child care professionals and individuals in group homes are eligible to receive vaccinations.

The health department has received 3,670 doses so far and administered 2,862.
