Track and field
The track and field team will participate in this year’s Big 12 outdoor championship Friday through Sunday at Kansas State’s R.V Christian Track.
This year marks the third time the R.V Christian Track has hosted a Big 12 Championship, previously hosting in 2005 and 2012. This weekend is the first time since 2019 the Big 12 will host a conference tournament for track and field. The 2020 conference tournament was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The action will kick off Friday at 11 a.m. with combined events, then move into the field and running events to end the day. Saturday’s action will also start with combined events, then move into the field and running events, but with a 10 a.m. start time.
Sunday’s events won’t start until 1 p.m., with only field and running events taking place in the afternoon to wrap up the final day.
This weekend’s tournament will wrap up the season for the Wildcats who will look to make their way through a stacked field to capture a men’s and women’s title. A total of 14 of the 19 men’s and women’s teams in attendance will go into the weekend ranked in the top 40 in the latest USTFCCCA National Ratings Index, making it nearly impossible for any team to make it through the weekend easily.
Single-day tickets go on sale Monday at www.kstatesports.com/buytickets and are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Tickets are also available on a walk-up basis each day of the tournament.
