Will Swanson, a 6 foot 5 inches, 252-pound redshirt freshman tight end out of Papillion, Nebraska, continues the countdown with just 83 days until Kansas State football’s season opener against Stanford in Arlington, Texas.
Swanson is entering his second year with the Wildcats after redshirting and not seeing any game action in 2020. Out of La Vista South High School, Swanson’s educational goal at K-State is to major in construction science.
At La Vista South, Swanson was a three-year letterman, recording 45 receptions for 542 yards and scoring three touchdowns with the Titans. Swanson was tabbed as ESPN’s 24th-best tight end in the Class of 2020, while ESPN and 247Sports both rated him as the third-best prospect in the state of Nebraska.
He had interest from 10 schools and offers from five of those schools — with three of those at the FBS level, including Wyoming and Kent State. After receiving an offer from the Wildcats on June 2, 2019, Swanson committed just a little over two weeks later on June 20, 2019.

While there has not been much recent buzz over the tight end, head coach Chris Klieman was thrilled about Swanson’s signing back in 2019.
“The tight end, fullback position, we have a number of guys that we feel are going to fit that. Will Swanson is one of them,” Klieman said in his 2019 signing day press conference.
Swanson is part of nine tight ends on the team, including veterans Nick Lenners and Sammy Wheeler and Illinois transfer Daniel Imatorbhebhe. Playing time for Swanson will be tough to come by in 2021 unless he starts to impress over the summer and early fall.
