You may have never thought that vaping regulations exist, but you would be mistaken if you didn’t know about the legal battle going on with it. What are some of the rules to be aware of? You should understand your state’s regulations because listing them all is beyond the scope of this article.

Growth of Vaping Among Young People

The act of vaping has become especially common among young people who use them for nicotine doses. People have shifted away from traditional cigarettes to a degree and begun to use vaping more commonly. You can use vaping for either nicotine or marijuana, depending on the person. The growth in vaping has alarmed many policymakers because of the potential health consequences. Still, most consider it healthier than smoking cigarettes. It is important to note that use among age-appropriate individuals shouldn’t be thought of as a problem. It may even be a healthier alternative to smoking, and you can use it for cannabis as well. Tobacco Use: Limiting Use Among Young People

Legislators limited the younger generation’s exposure to tobacco use by passing a law in December 2019 to make the minimum age to buy tobacco 21. This law mainly targeted e-cigarettes, which were included under the law. In many states, you will find the minimum age for e-cigarettes sits at either 19 or 21. Some states, however, do still allow for people to use e-cigarettes at the age of 18. They passed this law because most tobacco use begins before the age of 18.

Flavor Bans on E-Cigarettes

This law hasn’t been passed on the whole, but some legislators have suggested passing a law that bans flavored e-cigarettes. They targeted this because of how flavored e-cigs appeal more to the younger generation than the older generation, which could reduce the attraction to them. Nine states have passed a ban on flavored e-cigs to lessen the appeal. Still, they have only seen mild success, with most being a short-term emergency ban, or the ban was blocked due to legal challenges.

Taxation and E-Cigarettes

In 21 states, they have passed laws where they tax e-cigarettes. This has led to complications like driving e-cig users toward smoking regular cigarettes since it increased vaping prices. However, it did deter other younger people from starting because of the higher price. For that reason, many legislators have argued to make vaping cheaper than smoking because of how vaping has fewer health consequences.

The other danger of taxes has been that it creates a black market, and how these work are people can make money off selling cheaper e-cigs. Because of the complications and the belief that higher taxes might not be practical, many legislators believe that the Tobacco 21 policies might prove more effective at stopping people from vaping. Still, there is an appeal from the government in collecting revenue off this trend, meaning that they might tax it.
