Spletcher sets school record mile-time

Junior Hadley Splechter recorded a new mile run personal best of 4:02.07, breaking the Kansas State indoor record of 4:02.42. Jeff Schemmel held the previous record from the 1976 NCAA Championships. 

Spletcher’s time netted him the men’s mile silver medal at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Houston University’s Devin Vallejo-Bannister earned first-place honors with a time of 4:01.12.

Junior Sydney Burton set a personal record of 4:42.36 in the women’s mile, placing first in the event. Freshman Grace Meyer also ran her fastest mile at 5:01.10 en route to fourth place. 

The Wildcats will return to Ahearn Field House Friday, Feb. 17, in the Steve Miller Invitational.
