The announcement comes just after the men’s college basketball team advanced as far as the Elite Eight in March Madness under Taylor’s hire of first-year head coach Jerome Tang.
Along with the success from men’s basketball, the football team had an historic year, including winning the Big 12 Championship and competing in the Sugar Bowl against Alabama.

K-State sports has recently been on the rise, led by football and men’s basketball under Taylor. Taylor recently hired Jason Mansfield as the new volleyball head coach who has a similar background of success to Tang.
The men’s golf team has also been on the rise under Taylor, and head coach Grant Robbins received an extension in the fall of 2022. The team has won four championships on the season, tied for second-most in program history.
