If we’re being honest, movie dates are the best way to spend time with someone you like. Even if you’re not dating, you are less likely to get shot down when you ask someone out on a movie date.
We know picking out the perfect movie can be daunting and frustrating. So, here’s a list of the best movies you should see this summer.
-
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe started on the right track with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earlier this year. So now, buckle up for the eagerly awaited third installation of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Like any Marvel movie, be prepared to enjoy fresh galactic battle scenes and bonkers humor. Is there a better way to kick off the summer?
If you’re looking for a date that is as fascinated by the Marvel universe, why not check Hily app? This way, you don’t have to ruin the date by explaining every character and their back story.
-
Fast X
It’s been a pretty turbulent road with insane car chases, secret families, hectic heists, and a couple of resurrections. We’re not being overly dramatic, at least not after they launched a muscle car into space. So, it seems unlikely that the fast and furious would have anything to surprise us.
But after the last nine movies, it’s safe to say we’re in for a surprise.
Just like Dom, we’re about to learn that it never truly ends. It could be because they’re adding Jason Momoa to the cast, or it could be because they are fighting demons from the past.
-
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
The battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons continues to rage well into this Transformers movie. However, this year you’re in for a wild treat because Predacons, Maximals, and Terrorcons have joined the fray.
If Fast X doesn’t serve the vehicular action you crave, then boy are you in for a wild ride.
Optimus Prime is facing off against a massive robot gorilla, Optimus Primal. And of course, is it really a Transformers movie if there isn’t a hapless human stuck in a car they can’t control?
-
Barbie
Enough of the galaxy battles, insane car chases, and robot action.
We can’t keep still because they are bringing Barbie to the big screens! With only the trailer out, we are obsessed with the cast, Ryan Gosling as Ken and Margot Robbie as Barbie, and the violently pink Barbie land.
If anything, the marketing team won’t let us forget, with teaser after teaser and chaotic character posters.
From these gimmicks, we can discern that Barbie will have an existential crisis that will plunge her into the human world, along with her dashing accessory – Ken.
-
Oppenheimer
With so many movies coming out this year, it’s safe to say that the MCU and the DC universe aren’t the show-stoppers. After the wildly pink Barbie universe, we plunge you into the chaotic storyline of J. Robert Oppenheimer – the father of the atomic bomb.
We know we’re in for greatness because Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) is cast as the titular theoretical physicist. His work on The Manhattan Project changed the trajectory of warfare and the world as we know it.
The movie is based on Martin J. Sherwin and Kai Bird’s book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.
We are getting ready for the Oscar season, and it seems Oppenheimer did not come to play.
-
Prom Pact
Is there a better movie to watch after dinner than a teen romantic comedy?
It is prom season, and if prior movies are anything to go by, teens are about to realize their dreams, and mean girls get what they deserve. But real life lacks drama, doesn’t it?
Well, Disney has a fresh take on prom night, and we’re here for it all.
After her best friend, Ben, breaks up with his girlfriend, Lola makes a pact with him to go to prom together. However, things get complicated when Lola starts to develop feelings for Ben’s best friend, Cole. The two friends must decide whether to follow their hearts or keep their pact.
While this movie might be criticized for its predictability, it is still a really heartwarming and funny film that should be on your watch list.
-
Ghosted
If you’re looking for the perfect rom-com with a little bit of action, then Ana De Armas and Chris Evans have got you covered.
Sadie is a covert CIA operative while Cole, a hopeless romantic, is a farmer. While they have a fantastic first date, Cole is thrown into a world of peril and action when he tries to pull on a romantic gesture but gets confused for a clandestine operative – the taxman.
Will they ever have a second date or is Cole too traumatized by Sadie’s profession?
Conclusion
There are plenty more of where that came from, and this summer is sure to serve you with hits back-to-back. Whether you’re into horror, sci-fi, animation, or comedy, the cinematic universe has something for everyone.
