The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Keyontae Johnson with the 50th pick in the second round of the NBA Draft.

The Thunder had a 40-42 record during the 2022-23 season, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in game for the eight seed in the Western Conference. Earlier in the draft, the Thunder traded the No. 12 pick to the Mavericks for the No. 10 pick, taking Kentucky guard Cason Wallace.

Johnson averaged 17.4 points for Kansas State men’s basketball in his sole season for the Wildcats in 2022-23. With his 17.4 points, Johnson made over 51% of his field goal attempts while knocking down 40% of his 3-point attempts.

Johnson’s collegiate journey started at Florida in 2018. Johnson transferred to K-State for his final season in 2022 after suffering from a heart condition and collapsing during a game in December 2020.

Johnson’s first action should come in the Summer League for Oklahoma City starting July 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
