On Tuesday, Greek life students performed in a dance competition at Bramlage Coliseum for the 108th Kansas State Homecoming. The Wildcat Request Live dances showcase the Greek life pairings’ interpretations of the Homecoming theme, “Purple Dynasty.”
Zeta Tau Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Sigma.
Performing first, they had a Queen-themed dance, complete with Freddie Mercury costumes and classic Queen hits, setting high expectations for the rest of the groups.
Sigma Kappa, Kappa Sigma and Sigma Phi Epsilon
Their theme was Lego, with the tagline, “How will you build your dynasty?” They dressed as Legos, including a Lego Willie the Wildcat, and performed to the song “Dixieland Delight.” However, to the disappointment of some, the performance did not include “Everything is Awesome” from “The Lego Movie.”
Chi Omega, Sigma Tau Gamma and Theta Xi
This was the first of two Taylor Swift Eras Tour-themed dances and included some of Swift’s hit songs such as “Welcome to New York” and “Fearless.” All the women dressed as Taylor Swift in their “Wildcat Era.” The men performed solo to the song “The Man.” Their ending message was “The Big 12 never goes out of style.”
Delta Delta Delta, Beta Sigma Psi and Delta Chi
Their theme was the Roman Empire, but they also included Hercules, who is Greek, not Roman. The dance included the songs “Zero to Hero” and “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyonce.
Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Rho and Acacia
This group performed the same opening song as the last group, but their choreography was a step up. This theme was Greek Gods, and the highlight of their dance was a fight between Willie the Wildcat and the Houston Cougars’ mascot. About halfway through their dance, the music stopped working, but they continued without it.
Kappa Delta, Alpha Omega Epsilon and Phi Delta Theta
This group performed stunts in the first of two Kardashian-themed groups with the tagline “Keeping up with Willie.”
Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Sigma Phi and Alpha of Clovia
Their theme was America, and they dressed in stars and stripes; one dancer even dressed as the Statue of Liberty. The performance included songs like “Party in the USA” and “God Bless The U.S.A.”
Kappa Alpha Theta, Farmhouse and Alpha Gamma Delta
This next group had a unique theme: “Pirates of the Caribbean.” The performance featured fun costumes, with one of the Farmhouse men dressed as Jack Sparrow. Unfortunately, the music skipped again, and part of their dance was cut out.
Pi Phi, Delta Upsilon and Lambda Chi
Dance number nine had a Marvel superheroes-themed routine. The costumes were okay, but the choreography and dancing were top-tier.
Gamma Phi Beta, Beta Theta Pi and Phi Gamma Delta
The 10th routine was another Taylor Swift Eras Tour-themed dance. This dance went through different eras of K-State, including various K-State elements like “Cats by 90” and songs like “Lavender Haze” and “Long Live.”
Kappa Kappa Gamma, Sigma Chi, and Phi Kappa Theta
Their Kardashian-themed dance had good choreography, Kardashian sunglasses and said, “Willie, I lost my diamond earring in the ocean, and it’s gone.”
Alpha Chi Omega, Pi Kappa Alpha and Pi Kappa Phi
Their number was Star Wars-themed. They performed stunts dressed as characters, such as Yoda, and played “Starships” by Nicki Minaj.
All the dancers’ hard work and creativity made this year’s Wildcat Request Live another Homecoming show to be proud of.
The Wildcat Request Live winner will be announced at the Pep Rally on Friday, Oct. 27.
